GMA Garnet Group (GMA) is a Western Australian company that has been providing garnet abrasives to the waterjet cutting and protective coating industries for over 40 years. GMA was formally founded in Port Gregory (north of Geraldton) in 1983, following an earlier iteration of the company (Target Minerals) beginning exploration in 1971.
GMA manages a complete supply chain from source and processing to international distribution. They own mines and processing plants in Australia, the USA and the Middle East and have invested significantly to expand their sources of supply and production capacity to incorporate alluvial, crushed and recycled garnet.
GMA was fully acquired by Singapore-based Jebsen & Jessen in 2024. The Jebsen and Jessen families had held stakes in the company since 2001, when they founded Garnet International Resources Pty Ltd along with Torsten Ketelsen and Wolfhart Putzier. It is uncertain when Mr Ketelsen and Mr Putzier sold their stakes, but Mr Ketelsen served on Garnet International Resources' board until 2022.
