Eastern Guruma Pty Ltd is a privately-owned contracting business, wholly-owned by members of the Eastern Guruma traditional owner group whose land surrounds Tom Price in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Eastern Guruma provides services including civil and mining, facilities management, drilling and landscaping for some of Australia's largest resource companies. It has multiple joint ventures, with indigenous and non-indigenous groups.
It has previously diversified into the Kimberley through a joint venture with Energy Made Clean and by establishing its own pastoral company, but in 2020 and 2021 has focused on its core business.
Eastern Guruma was the main shareholder in facilities management contractor Pilbara Aboriginal Investments, but acquired 100 per cent of the business in FY21.
In March 2023, at Rio Tinto's inaugural gala awards as part of its Supplier Recognition Program, Eastern Guruma was awarded the 2023 Local Engagement Award, which recognises a business that demonstrates a commitment to investing in the local workforce in the regions where we operate in Western Australia and has made a positive impact on the wellbeing and value of the community.
