Communicare opened in 1977, offering services such as marriage counselling, financial assistance and school holiday programs.
In 1982 Communicare opened its new and much larger premises at the South Bentley Hall. The 1990s saw Communicare grow from a small community charity organisation to a multi-faceted service provider whilst still holding true to the original goal of 'local people, helping local people' and maintaining the focus on providing services to those who need it most.
In 2010, Communicare acquired InnerSkill, a not-for-profit organisation operating out of Sydney, and became a national organisation focused on leading the way in support services to the whole Australian Community.
Today, Communicare provides vital community services to over a quarter of a million Australians a year, supported by over 200 staff and volunteers across approximately 80 projects. It operates at over 20 sites across Australia, with more to come.
