Part of the Adelaide Brighton (Adbri) Group, Cockburn Cement is a major producer of cement and lime in Western Australia.
Construction of the Munster plant commenced in 1953 and manufacturing in August 1955.
Cockburn Cement has become the largest producer of lime in Australia because of the emergence of major global resource industries such as alumina, gold and mineral sands, which require this product for their processing operations.
