The Association of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades (AVBFB) is the peak body that supports and advocates for Western Australia's 26,000 bush fire brigade volunteers. Operationally, they regularly work side-by-side the state's 1,100 paid firefighters and more often than not, provide an invaluable service that otherwise simply wouldn't exist - often in regional and remote areas where fire is the primary natural hazard. Administratively, the complex task of managing Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades is typically undertaken by volunteers with a passion for their community in conjunction with their nearest Local Government.
