The market for regional air services in Western Australia is continuing to grow as both Qantas and Virgin Australia announce further investment in the state.
After months of speculation Qantas has confirmed it has taken over regional airline Network Aviation to move into the fly-in-fly-out air charter market in a deal believed to be valued at more than $30 million.
In a sign of the times, Qantas will commence weekly flights between resources boom towns Brisbane and Karratha from November 6, which the company says will provide the first direct air access between the east coast and the Pilbara.
