PERTH businessman and social man about town Troy Barbagello has called it “the electronic Perth Weekly”, although its owners obviously hope new website www.troysparty.com.au proves more successful than the now-defunct western suburbs publication.
Troy’s Party will feature more than just the hottest events around Perth, including social pages, a home and garden section, fashion, horoscopes, and regular stories on Perth ideas.
Owned by Premier Media Promotions, of which Mr Barbagello is one of three shareholders, the site is targeted at 18 to 55 year olds. It is a free-to-air site that Mr Barbagello said would be different from other ‘what’s-on’ websites.
“Our point of difference is that we will be using this to promote lots of upcoming events on the social calendar,” he said.
Tony Baker, also a shareholder in Troy’s Party, said the site was different to other products on the market because of the content.
“This site will be updated weekly and will be more comprehensive than what’s available now. All, except one, are Western Australian contributors,” Mr Baker said.
He said the company was aiming to produce an online lifestyle magazine showcasing the best of WA.
“We will have human interest and Perth-specific information,” Mr Baker said.
“There will be that out-and-about-type photo pages but we’ve got great technology people can use. You can zoom in, cut and paste and use the photos however you like.”
Mr Barbagello said the site already had attracted interest from various advertisers and sponsors and would include a mixture of advertorial and editorial.
“Of the interested parties, we’ve some paying, some advertising, or some helping in some other way. There will be restaurant reviews, stories about local services and other points of interest. It will be a mixture of advertorial and editorial.”
The launch date of the site will be in approximately three weeks and Mr Baker said it was an event not to be missed.
“We will launch in the next three weeks and anyone who listens to the radio or reads the papers will find out about it. It will be heavily publicised,” he said.
