Employees with Harvey Beef have today voted to accept a new collective agreement, some two months after breakdowns between workers and the company started.
The announcement is below:
Processing staff at Harvey Beef have today voted to accept a new Union Collective Agreement, ensuring the long term, sustainable future of the company, its employees and the Western Australian beef industry.
The Agreement was jointly recommended to employees by the Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union (AMIEU) and the company.
"Harvey Beef is extremely pleased with today's result," said Harvey Beef Operations Manager Dean Goode.
"It provides Harvey Beef with the modern, flexible Agreement we need to compete with abattoirs in the Western Australian, Eastern States and global beef markets.
"It is a positive result for Harvey Beef, our valued employees and the Western Australian beef producers who rely on Harvey Beef to distribute and promote WA beef around the world.
"Harvey Beef will be a great business. It has a great product, and now has a more competitive cost base to aid its long term sustainability."
Mr Goode acknowledged the AMIEU and the Harvey Beef employees' support for the new agreement.
"Harvey Beef looks forward to a continued, long and rewarding relationship with our employees and the AMIEU as together we grow Harvey Beef's short, medium and long term future as a supplier of quality Western Australian beef to the world's consumers," he said.
