NO-ONE could say new WA Business Brokers Association president Ken Schultz does not have a feel for small business or for trying new ventures.
Mr Schultz has been a small business operator for 25 years, a business broker with Zircom Business Marketing for six years, is the creator of CrimeNet and was responsible for bringing indoor go-karting to WA.
Now he is putting all his experience into new broking firm Schultz Partners.
The company has secured a number of clients in the eastern states and Mr Schultz is talking of an office in Melbourne in early 2002, to follow the Osborne Park base opened just last week.
Mr Schultz believes the quarterly reporting demanded by GST regulation is a benefit to businesses wanting to put themselves on the market. Up-to-date figures and quality presentation of the operations of a business are essential to attracting market interest, he says.
Mr Schultz, who says he has “put everything on the line” for his new venture, is clearly not a supporter of the Labor Party’s workplace agreement and rollback talk, labelling the policies as a threat to the survival of those small business owners who “mortgage their homes and put their entire future on the line to start a business”.
Schultz Partners will specialise in manufacturing and wholesale businesses with a value of between $500,000 and $15 million.
After initial regulatory problems, Mr Schultz says CrimeNet, an online database of criminal records, wanted and missing persons, is expanding to the extent it could benefit from extra investment.
