The availability of high-quality black truffles so close to Perth has led many Perth chefs to include the black fungi in their menus, while the season is on.
While French-born Loose Box head chef, Alain Fabregues, has added a truffle menu to his regular menu for the duration of the season (from June to September), others such as Restaurant Amuse proprietors Hadleigh and Carolynne Troy will celebrate the harvest of the delicacy with a one-off event on Wednesday July 16.
At $200 per person (food only), the seven-course Loose Box menu includes mouth-watering dishes such as a truffle egg served with truffle toasts and a terrine of forest fungi layered with Manjimup truffle and served glazed, garnished with truffle shavings and fresh chives.
Restaurant Amuse also offers a seven-course truffle degustation menu in association with truffle producer, The Wine & Truffle Company, and Grape Expectation Vintners, which will supply the wines served at the event.
The menu, at $180 per person (wine included), has a spelt and black truffle risotto and a truffle panna cotta with pistachio biscotti.

There are a few changes going on in Perth's business district cafe and bar scene.
The tapas bar Fuché Restaurant, located on Murray Street, has recently applied to the Perth City Council for a change of use, from restaurant to small bar.
And there's a new cafe soon to open on Adelaide Terrace, Infinity Café, while over in West Perth, Colin Street's Café Citrus, which opened four months ago, is in the early stages of applying for a restaurant licence.
