PERTH AIRPORT SOON TO ANNOUNCE MAJOR AIRPORT REDEVELOPMENT PLANS
Perth Airport has responded to comments in Parliament by Premier Alan Carpenter by issuing an assurance that a major announcement on the future of the airport would be made within the next four weeks.
Premier Carpenter had criticised Perth Airport during Question Time for failing to commit to a major upgrade following massive increases in passenger demand in recent years.
Perth Airport CEO Brad Geatches said that Perth Airport had accelerated planning for major investments in airport redevelopment and is soon to release its plans to all stakeholders, including the Western Australian public.
"We have been working closely with the airlines on the airport redevelopment plans to make sure we
get this major investment right.
The planning has progressed well and we are soon to share our vision for Perth Airport".
"In the meantime we have continued our program to improve facilities at Perth Airport.
We are investing in more car parking, better roads, improved terminal facilities and new aircraft movement
areas.
The value of these investments will exceed $20 million in the current financial year."
"We have also been actively planning for the facilities which will serve the aviation needs of Perth and
Western Australia for the next 50 years".
Mr Geatches said that Perth Airport was preparing to make a major announcement on the future vision for Perth Airport before the end of April.
"Perth Airport is committed to delivering world class airport facilities to the people of Western Australia. Perth Airport is an essential element in the economic and social infrastructure of this State and we agree that Western Australians deserve an outstanding airport."
