The founders of the Margaret River School of Wine, Dina and John Smith, are selling the wine education business after more than 16 years.
Mrs Smith says the business has a great potential for growth but has become too busy for the couple to run.
“I have been holding back the development of the school of wine but I know it is ready to get bigger,” she says.
Mrs Smith has been a wine educator since 1977, is a practising member of the Australian Society of Wine Education.
She has written The Margaret River Wine Etiquette Guide and The Cellar Door Wine Guide of Margaret River as well as both introductory and advanced wine appreciation courses for the Margaret River Wine Industry Association.
Mr Smith started to work with Margaret River wines in the early 1970s and now runs a home-based winery, producing small batches of wines in super-premium category.
The Margaret River School of Wine holds a special exemption licence for education and training, with Liquor Licensing WA, meaning venues are automatically licensed during courses, which can be held anywhere.
