Newsmaker – John Finlay-Jones

Edith Cowan University has appointed Professor John Finlay-Jones as deputy vice-chancellor with responsibility for research. Professor Finlay-Jones, who is currently assistant director of the Telethon Institute for Child Health, was formerly head of the faculty of health sciences at Flinders University in Adelaide. His current research activities include the analysis of the harmful effects of sunlight. ECU is also in the early stages of a recruitment drive to fill 12 newly created professorial chairs, announced in September. The new chairs are part of a move by the university to become a centre of research excellence.
