Warren Mead’s North Fremantle Oyster Bar has been the subject of sale speculation ever since talks to offload the business to Empire Beer Group Ltd collapsed in April.
Investigations by Gusto reveal Mr Mead has moved to transfer the business’s liquor licence into the name of Anthony Posniak, who has been managing the operations of Mr Mead’s four Oyster Bar businesses.
It is unclear why Mr Mead is moving to transfer the licence.
Mr Posniak and Mr Mead did not return calls made by Gusto.
Mr Mead is also negotiating to transfer the lease of the undeveloped restaurant site at the bottom of Exchange Plaza to the owners of West Perth’s Onyx Bar. He had intended to open an Oyster Bar restaurant a couple of years ago, but as yet not even a kitchen has been developed.

Three sisters from the South West are looking to make a name for themselves this Christmas via their online gifts business with a difference, Three Wishes.
Lee-Anne Townrow and her sisters, Sharon and Kerry, have invested heavily in the production of custom made boxes that can withstand Australia Post conditions, so that their well-sourced local treats can find their way to clients as intended.
According to Ms Townrow, most hampers and gifts arrive in a simple cardboard box, even though the product inside may be beautifully wrapped and presented, as seen when purchased online.
Three Wishes sends its products in a tough purple box that, when opened reveals treasures sourced solely from the Margaret River region. The company includes favourites such as the Margaret River Chocolate Company but, being locals, they have also sourced some rare treats.
“We have preserves made by Fat Hippo in Capel, and the lady who makes them sells them to some gourmet shops but she has no shop herself,” Lee-Anne says.
Carbunup Crest, the wine Three Wishes uses, is also something of a treat.
“It has just been picked up by Qantas,” Lee-Anne says. “But, they don’t have a cellar door down here so this wine is not easily obtainable.”
