Third Rail signs US wireless deal

THE South Perth communications company Third Rail has signed a Letter of Intent with a US New Hampshire county to supply wireless services for two of its university campuses.

Third Rail has won the contract to supply a voice and data broadband wireless network to cover the State for the New Hampshire for its National Guard.

The network is due to be completed by the middle of the year.

Under its agreement with the New Hampshire, Third Rail can also sell air time to other government departments.

The first base station is due to be operating by the end of March and it covers the area in which the two campuses are located.

The LOI is for Third Rail to supply the universities with a high-speed wireless Internet connection, each of them with multiple buildings.

Third Rail’s managing director, Wayne Loxton, said: “Securing such a strategic customer in New Hampshire is an important milestone.

“We are aggressively promoting the benefits of our system in other US States to take full advantage of our first-to-market position.

“Revenue received from this and future contracts will be in addition to the income from the National Guard network.”

Mr Loxton said the fact that Third Rail was able to sign the deal with the university campuses before the network was completed was an indication of the strong desire for the services that Third Rail would supply.

He said Third Rail’s sales team was focusing on signing further customers located in the coverage area of the first base station.

He said further announcements could be expected in the near future.
