Committee for Perth appoints CEO

Business think-tank Committee for Perth has appointed former Urban Development Institute of Australia WA executive director Marion Fulker as its chief executive.
Ms Fulker resigned from UDIA WA last week and will take up the new role at the end of January.
The Committee for Perth has an interim board comprising some of Western Australia's foremost business minds including Rio Tinto iron ore chief executive Sam Walsh, BHP Billiton vice president Ian Fletcher, Freehills partner John Atkins, Ernst & Young partner Gary Smith and Alinta CFO Stephen Pearce.
Former banking chief and high profile director Tony Howarth joined as chair in November.
Ms Fulker told WA Business News she was looking forward to working with such high-calibre people to help make Perth a more vibrant city and increase its profile internationally.
"I anticipate many of the issues I will tackle will be controversial and will have a weight of public opinion behind them," she said.
The committee has amassed more than $500,000 in contributions and has already lent its weight to the Perth stadium and Northbridge link debates.
Ms Fulker joined the UDIA WA in August 2002 and has been at the forefront of debate on issues such as land supply, housing affordability, tax reform, and regional planning.
UDIA WA manager of research and policy Judith Harley will act as executive director of the organisation until a new executive director is appointed.
