Strickland Metals is on a roll returning its best assay results to date from its recently discovered Wanamaker deposit in Western Australia serving up a 7m hit at an exciting 22.2 g/t gold.
The latest assay result comes from drilling 50m north of where the initial Wanamaker discovery was made in July and extends the mineralisation footprint of the company’s Millrose project to more than 3.2 kilometres.
Management says the high-grade gold content from the latest assay is consistent across the 7m intersection and highlights the potential of opening up mineralisation to the north of the deposit.
Previous drill results at Wanamaker include a 7.9m hit at a solid 7 g/t gold from 138.9m that followed the discovery assay result of an 8m intercept going 4 g/t gold from 104m.
Strickland Metals Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Bray said: “We are now seeing a very impressive and continuous zone of oxide mineralisation, which currently extends from Wanamaker in the north to the southern portion of Millrose. The footprint of the oxide mineralisation is now over 3.2km long.”
The Millrose project forms part of the company’s broader Yandal gold project and is within the northern reaches of the region’s Archean-age Yandal greenstone belt.
Other sections of the Yandal greenstone belt have seen a strong cast of well-known WA gold mines including Jundee, Bronzewing and Darlot, which have all coughed up production totalling multi-million ounces.
Strickland picked up Millrose last year with an indicated and inferred mineral resource estimate of six million tonnes grading at an average 1.8 g/t for 346,000 ounces of contained gold.
The site is about 30km east of Northern Star Resources’ 10-million-ounce-plus Jundee gold operation and adjoins the former Renegade Exploration tenement package that Strickland also picked up last year.
The new discovery continues a great run of drill results for the company with a number of solid gold hits intersecting oxide mineralisation outside the main Millrose deposit. These results include 28m at 3.7 g/t gold from 54m containing a high-grade hit of 6m at 12.1 g/t.
Just last month Strickland confirmed the presence of mineralised extensions beneath its Millrose resource after completing a 130m step-out program at the site.
The diamond probe nailed two high-grade intercepts running 5m at 5.3 g/t from 239m and 5.9m grading 6.1 g/t gold from 258m. The hits sit inside a larger 38.2m parcel going 2.5 g/t from 234m.
Management believes majority of its recent assays are linked with an oxide gold zone at Millrose.
The company says it is still waiting on outstanding assays from drilling to the north of the project with results expected by the end of next month. If these results match the latest discovery at Wanamaker, then Strickland could be looking at a significant upgrade to its current mineral resource at Millrose.
