Kiely appointed MSWA boss

Good Sammy Enterprises chief executive Melanie Kiely will be the new chief executive of MSWA, replacing the long-serving Marcus Stafford.

Ms Kiely has led Good Sammy Enterprises for the past two and a half years and has experience in leadership roles in the not-for-profit sector, financial services and broader healthcare including at Silver Chain Group, HBF Group and nib health.

She serves on several boards including AIA Health, AFG Finance Group and Black Dog Institute.

Ms Kiely said MSWA had become a leader within the disability sector and she was excited to work with the board to build on this success in 2022.

MSWA president Ros Harman said Ms Kiely’s values and experience were fully aligned to the ogranisation’s mission and direction.

After a managed transition process, Ms Kiely will formally take over the role in early 2022.

Current chief executive Marcus Stafford is due to depart in October 2021 after leading the organisation for almost 20 years.

Mr Stafford led MSWA through the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme and managed to keep the organisation profitable, while many others struggled to break even.

He was recently appointed chair of fellow disability services organisation Activ Foundation, the largest WA charity according to Business News’ Data & Insights.

Activ Foundation also announced Hawaiian Group chief operating officer Michael Heath had been appointed as chief executive, replacing Danielle Newport.
