Alto Metals has delivered another stellar step-out drill hit at its Vanguard gold prospect in WA’s Sandstone district with shallow visible gold less than 40m from surface assaying 60.6 grams per tonne over 4m.
The high-grade intercept increases the extent of known mineralisation along the Vanguard and Vanguard North Trends to 2km.
Other shallow results from a wide-spaced RC program include 8m at 3.1 g/t from 8m including 4m grading 5.8 g/t from only 8m at Vanguard. At Vanguard North 4m at 5.3 g/t from 44m was intersected within a 8m section going at 2.8 g/t and 4m of 6.8 g/t from 124m was hit in another hole.
Assays are awaited for two lines of drilling 80m and 160m further along strike from the hole that returned 4m of 60.6 g/t.
Alto already boasts a mineral resource of 331,000 ounces grading an average 1.7 g/t in several deposits at Sandstone, including 124,000oz at Indomitable and Vanguard. Its 900 sq. km tenure covers the majority of the Sandstone Greenstone Belt where more than 1.3 million ounces of gold have historically been produced.
The company is currently undertaking a 30,000-metre drilling campaign targeting strike and depth extensions of known mineralisation proximal to major shear zones at the project, with primary focus on the Lord Nelson and Lord Henry deposits located along the 3km Lords Corridor.
Vanguard and Vanguard North are less than 10km west of Lord Nelson.
Management says visible gold in the bonanza Vanguard sample represents a primary source of mineralisation suggesting the system may potentially extend at depth.
Known mineralisation at Vanguard now stretches for over 800m in length and remains open in two directions.
Alto’s Managing Director, Matthew Bowles said: “These are exceptional results. The visible gold from SRC286, assaying 4m at 60.6 g/t gold, is the highest grade ever reported from Vanguard, it is shallow at less than 40m from surface and demonstrates the potential for Vanguard to host more exceptionally high-grade gold mineralisation.”
“Our wide-spaced, step-out drilling has now confirmed gold mineralisation over 2km and it remains open along strike and down dip.”
Alto has already completed more than 26,000m of drilling within the Sandstone tenure with assay results from 51 holes pending from the Lord Nelson, Lord Henry, Orion Lode and Central Zone targets of the Lords Corridor, in addition to Vanguard.
Alto is not pausing for breath.
It has decided to extend the Lords Corridor and Vanguard RC drilling program by 10,000m and a further 3,000m of diamond drilling is set to commence next week targeting mineralisation at the Lords Corridor, Vanguard and Indomitable targets.
