Energy Minister Francis Logan has called for expressions of interest from consumers to be part of a ministerial advisory committee on electricity supply.
"We will want committee members to identify issues associated with standards of electricity supply, comment on the effectiveness of consumer protection mechanisms and advise on existing or emerging issues with electricity supply standards," Mr Logan said.
"It will be invaluable to have the input of the end users who deal with the impact of electricity supply issues on a daily basis.
"Consumers rightly expect a secure and reliable electricity supply, and we must have effective standards and consumer protection systems in place to ensure this is delivered.
"The State Government recognises the importance of consumer knowledge and experience and through the committee, is seeking informed advice on the need for improvements to electricity supply issues."
The committee will be established and chaired by the Energy Minister.
Mr Logan said members of the committee would include residential electricity users from both metropolitan and regional areas, as well as owners and operators of small, medium and large businesses.
"This is an exciting opportunity for consumers to play a key role in identifying and implementing improvements to electricity supply quality and reliability standards," the Minister said.
Expressions of Interest will close on July 28. More information and application packages are available online at http://www.energy.wa.gov.au or by calling the Office of Energy on 9420 5600.
