Terrain Minerals is getting set to resume gold drilling at its Smokebush project in WA. A successful campaign over the Monza prospect in 2020 will be followed-up in the renewed campaign, with the Paradise City prospect, on newly acquired tenure, also targeted for drill testing. Last year Monza delivered some solid numbers including 4 metres grading 4.46 grams per tonne gold from 51m.
With all approvals granted and drill preparations now complete, Terrain is once again looking to get the rods spinning at Smokebush, with a total of 17 reverse circulation holes planned across the Monza and Paradise City prospects for a total of 2,100m drilling.
Smokebush lies within WA’s renowned Murchison mineral field some 65km west of the historical Paynes Find mining centre and 350km north-east of Perth.
Until recently, Terrain held just 1,254 hectares of land in the region, which hosts the high-priority Monza prospect. However, in December last year the company added a serious 2,605 hectares to its landholdings through the acquisition of a new tenement where the Paradise City prospect is located.
Having recently concluded a program of detailed mapping and a ground-based geophysics across the terrane, the company has pin-pointed key drilling locations across the two priority targets at Monza and Paradise City, which are ready to be tested once a drilling contractor has been secured.
At Monza, 13 holes for over 1,600m of reverse circulation drilling are planned to follow-up on last year’s campaign where multiple gold-rich intercepts were returned. Notable hits of 7m at 2.72 g/t from 25m and 6m at 2.12 g/t from 80m were reported from Monza by the company. According to management, the drilling results suggest the mineralisation remains open down dip and along trend.
As part of the follow-up campaign, 4 holes will test the extension of mineralisation at depth, with another 9 holes looking to test scale and continuity to the north. Intriguingly, the drilling will extend in a northerly direction towards historical gold workings some 800 metres away from last year’s campaign. Rock chip sampling from these old workings have returned numerous high-grade results, including assays tipping the scales as high as 100 g/t gold.
At Paradise City, the company is planning 4 holes for 490 metres as part of its maiden campaign on the newly acquired tenement. The drilling will look to test for scale and continuity of known mineralisation identified by Terrain from historical drill results.
According to the company, Paradise City shares similarities to Monza and appears to extend towards other known mineralisation some 3 kilometres to the north.
Notable results from past drilling there include 3m grading 2.17 g/t gold from just 10 metres depth and 2m at 3.61 g/t gold from 15m. Numerous high grade rock chip samples were also reported by Terrain, with 31 samples returned over 8 g/t gold, with some reaching as high as 49.27 g/t.
With gold still trading at stellar prices and Terrain Minerals accelerating its exploration endeavours at Smokebush, all the ducks are starting to line up for this emerging explorer. A bumper 2021 could be on the cards as the company looks to smash out the metres in this gold-rich region of WA.
