ASX-listed gold and copper explorer, White Cliff Minerals has identified several high-priority gold targets at its historic Reedy South gold project in Western Australia after completing a significant aeromagnetic survey flown across the entire Reedy South tenement package. The Perth-based company says the aeromagnetic survey was commissioned in order to improve its understanding of what may be going on under the soil cover at Reedy South.
Results from the survey, which comprised approximately 6,000-line kilometres at 50-metre spacing, were used to better delineate and map the various north-south-trending faults and fertile structures that run through the Reedy South project area near Cue in WA’s Murchison Goldfields.
The priority prospects to come out of the recent airborne magnetic survey conducted by Thompson Aviation are King Cole, Pegasus, Reedy Extended, Cracker Jack, McCaskill Hill, Robin Well and Nallan.
White Cliff Minerals Technical Director, Ed Mead said: “Historically, much of the region has been mapped as vast granite terrain, however, we know from drilling, and now from this detailed airborne survey, that a significant portion of our tenement package is underlain by favourable shear zones, greenstone belts and structural targets.”
“Although the compilation and interrogation of historical exploration work is ongoing, we are excited about the potential that some of these prospects such as McCaskill Hill and Reedy Extended, present.”
White Cliff declared a maiden inferred and indicated mineral resource estimate for Reedy South of 779,000 tonnes of ore at an average grade of 1.7 grams per tonne gold for 42,400 ounces of contained gold following a review of historical drilling undertaken by previous Reedy South project owners between 1984 and 2015.
Subsequently, the company returned a clutch of solid gold hits from a recent round of RC drilling for an aggregate coverage of 3,537 metres.
Stand-out intersections from the 38 completed holes were 11m at an average grade of 3.19 g/t gold from 51m including 3m at 8.87 g/t, 7m going 3.16 g/t from 53m, 6m at 2.96 g/t from 18m and 11m at 2.29 g/t from 21m.
The Reedy South RC program was designed to increase White Cliff’s confidence in the main resource area and test for extensions along strike.
Management says it is now planning to carry out first-pass exploration on the newly identified targets. The initial work envisaged includes geological traverses to trace, map and sample structures and workings containing quartz veining or banded iron formations to gauge the potential tenure of the mineralisation and guide future exploration programs.
