ASX-listed explorer, White Cliff Minerals’ maiden RC drilling program at its historic Reedy South gold project near Cue in WA’s Murchison Goldfields has returned some encouraging initial gold sniffs including seven metres at an average grade of 3.16 grams per tonne from 53m.
The Perth-based company completed 38 holes for an aggregate of approximately 3,500m before the Christmas hiatus out of an overall planned campaign of 43 holes totalling 4,500m.
It says the program consists of shallower – about 60m-80m – infill drill holes aimed at increasing resource confidence and testing strike extensions, and a series of deeper holes to target mineralisation at depth.
Assays have been received for 11 of the 38 holes drilled to date, covering the northern end of the King Cole prospect. Better intersections from the first batch of results were the 7m going 3.16 g/t gold from 53m, 11m at 2.29 g/t from 21m, 16m at 1.74 g/t from 72m and 7m at 1.5 g/t from 48m.
White Cliff Minerals Technical Director, Ed Mead said: “The assay results received so far confirm the mineralised grade and thickness of historical drilling at the King Cole prospect which was part of the maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE) at Reedy South. Results from a further 27 completed holes are expected to further connect King Cole down to the Pegasus prospect, with deeper drilling in January proving up interpreted extensions to mineralisation and the October 2020 MRE.”
White Cliff says its drillers will be remobilising their RC rigs to Reedy South towards the end of this month to complete the deeper holes, which will be targeting extensions to the mineral resource estimate area.
The company’s maiden mineral resource estimate for Reedy South of 779,000 tonnes of ore grading 1.7 grams per tonne for 42,400 ounces of contained gold was derived after it carried out a detailed analysis of the historical drilling results reported by previous project owners between 1984 and 2015.
White Cliff points out that the drill holes from the historical data incorporated into its mineral resource estimate averaged 60m in depth.
In addition, Westgold Resources’ South Emu-Triton underground gold mine lies less than 600m from the Reedy South northern tenement boundary and along strike on the Reedy Shear Zone that plays host to known gold resources with vertical plunging mineralisation extending to depths of 500m-plus.
White Cliff has previously indicated it sees the style and controls of mineralisation of the Reedy South gold deposit as being similar to the operating South Emu-Triton mine.
The 272-square-kilometre Reedy South project area, about 40 kilometres north of Cue and 80km south of Meekatharra, is centred on the southern portion of the auriferous Reedy Shear Zone within the north-south-trending Meekatharra-Wydgee greenstone belt.
Reedy South’s gold mineralisation occurs in shoots or shears within the Reedy Shear Zone.
