Bailey Brewing Company opens

Swan Valley-based Bailey Brewing Company opened its doors today, the first of a number of breweries to launch in Perth for summer.

The brewery has a 245-capacity tavern, playground and grass areas situated on a 3.8-hectare block.

Bailey Brewing Company director Steve Bailey said the venue was very family friendly. 

“People can bring the kids and the kids will enjoy themselves while the parents can relax and enjoy themselves as well,” Mr Bailey told Business News.

“There’s plenty of space; lots of lawn to kick the footy, TVs with sport on.”

He said the idea was to bring everyone together and keep everything simple.

“There’s no weird beers, no weird food, just simple stuff,” he said.

Despite delays on equipment because of the pandemic, the brewery is opening only a few weeks behind schedule.

“It all sort of worked out, the COVID thing slowed us down a little bit with deliveries because a lot of the stuff comes from China,” Mr Bailey said.

“It was only a few weeks delay so I think we did pretty well, all thanks to the tradies and suppliers.”   

Mr Bailey said the brewery was hoping to have licences approved to increase venue capacity and sell packaged beer in bottle shops. 

A number of breweries are opening in and around Perth over the next few months.

Shelter Brewing Co is expected to launch its Busselton brewery later this year and Running With Thieves is going to launch its South Fremantle brewery for summer.

Hospitality group Sneakers & Jeans is planning on opening a Pirate Life brewery in Murray Street at the end of 2020.
