Birchmead strikes industrial deal

Birchmead Property Group has purchased 16 hectares of industrial land in Rockingham from DevelopmentWA for $22 million.

The land parcel comprises five lots, located within the Rockingham Industrial Zone’s Alumina Industrial Park (AIP), which range in size from two to five hectares.

Birchmead head of property Joe Sanfilippo said the acquisition provided an opportunity for a range of businesses in a fast-growing industrial centre,  home to a number of large businesses, including BHP Nickel West, Coogee Chemicals, Doral, and the state’s second waste-to-energy facility, currently being developed by New Energy Corporation.

“AIP is a very strategic location and we are excited about the prospects to develop the land for a range of companies within this important precinct,” Mr Sanfilippo said.

“The lots we have purchased are some of the largest general industrial lots remaining in the southern corridor.

“Birchmead will develop each lot to suit the tenant’s specific requirements. We have already received strong interest from several proponents and we expect development to commence on site within the next 12 months.”

Located on Zirconia Drive and Alumina Road in East Rockingham, the lots benefit from a newly created signalised intersection at Patterson Road and Alloy Avenue, which was announced by the state government late last month.

All lots are fully serviced with electricity, sewer, stormwater drainage and NBN infrastructure in place. 

Birchmead said works were underway to ensure its lots could be accessed by road trains, which it said would make the lots ideal for warehousing, transport and logistics, medium to large fabrication works and maritime-related industries.
