Wiluna Mining is continuing to deliver strong results from its namesake project located in the north-eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. The Golden Age deposit and adjacent Lennon Zone are both looking likely to supplement the company’s free milling ore pipeline, with the newly identified material set to improve cash flow for the coming 15 months and assist the company in funding its transition to stage two sulphide ore production.
Notable drilling results from the Golden Age Lower deposit include 8.35 metres grading 1.67 grams per tonne gold from 168.3m and 1.82m grading 8.92g/t gold from 259.1m in another hole that includes a higher grade 0.68m interval at 23.2g/t gold.
The Perth based company says Golden Age is well and truly open below the base of the existing underground mine, where past production churned out about 200,000 ounces grading an impressive 9g/t gold.
Drilling at Golden Age has extended mineralisation down to the 900 metre RL, which is about 200m below the base of the current underground development.
Wiluna’s Lennon target consists of multiple, parallel mineralised structures, located in the footwall of the existing underground mine development, slightly to the north of the Golden Age deposit.
Recent drilling at Lennon returned 5.5m grading 1.37g/t, which includes 0.75m at 6.01g/t. Lennon is open towards the surface from the 1200 metre RL, a distance of around 250m.
According to the company, the ore is partially refractory at Lennon, however the material is still expected to contribute to its stage one free-milling ore expansion plans.
Wiluna is now in the process of wrapping a resource around the newly drilled areas at the Golden Age Footwall and Main zones and drilling is ongoing at Lennon.
The ASX listed company has been executing a substantial drilling program across its Wiluna mining centre recently, which is broken up into four parts - Wiluna Centre, South, West and North mine areas. Golden Age and Lennon are located within the Wiluna North mine area.
As part of its staged production ramp up plan, some 4.5km of planned drilling aims to increase the geological confidence of its mineral resources and convert enough reserves ahead of production to maintain at least four years of mine life.
Wiluna is a huge system and is endowed with more than 10 million ounces of gold, including current resources and historical production, where over four million ounces of gold has been produced to date.
The company is currently sitting on a total resource of 93.2 million tonnes grading 2.13g/t gold for 6.4 million ounces and with conversion of resources to reserves the ultimate goal - Wiluna looks like it has plenty to get on with.

We aim to sustain or increase production and improve transitional cashflow over the next 15 months ahead of sulphides production from September 2021”.
