Image Resources says it has managed to shoulder the current Coronavirus inspired pandemic as it continues to operate its Boonanarring mineral sands project in WA with only marginal impacts on regular day-to-day activities.
The Patrick Mutz run company’s mine site is located 80km north of Perth where production for January 2020 was a record 35,300 tonnes of heavy mineral concentrate.
In early February this year, as uncertainty around Covid-19 was rising, Image said that its first four quarters of operations had exceeded performance targets with higher HMC production delivered and operating costs coming in lower than forecast.
It also said at the time that the regular January shipment and sale of HMC ore was achieved on schedule, however February’s shipment was slightly delayed due to the Coronavirus situation.
Now with ports experiencing competing shipping demands, Image’s March shipment is looking to be delayed a little too, however it will still leave for China sometime in early April.
Late last year, Image exceeded the name-plate capacity of its new concentration plant and was cash flow positive soon after, capping off an uber-successful inaugural year.
