New agent appointed to sell Dalkeith mega-mansion

A new agent has been appointed to sell the Dalkeith mansion built by the late Alan Bond, with Mr Bond's daughter Jody Fewster to sell the palatial home on behalf of owner Sue Gibson, after a near two-year sales campaign failed to find a buyer.

Ms Fewster, director of Ray White Cottesloe-Mosman Park, is marketing the property located at 89 Watkins Road at a price guide of $35 million-plus, well under the $39 million Ms Gibson and her former husband, mining magnate Steve Wyatt, paid for it in 2011.

The appointment of Ms Fewster follows a long-running marketing effort by William Porteous Properties International, which ran an expressions of interest campaign from December 2017 to May this year, but was unable to find a buyer.

The estate sprawls over six titles covering 6,406 square metres, with its grounds including orchards, a tennis court and a 25-metre swimming pool.

Ms Gibson divides her time between the house and a holiday home in the Southern Highlands of NSW and said she had decided to downsize from the six-bedroom house.

“My daughter has a year to go to finish university, so the time is right to downsize,” Ms Gibson said.

“I am really glad to have Jody in to sell the house as I know she loves it as much as I do.

“She is so passionate about the house that she grew up in - you can see her eyes light up when she talks about it.”

The house was designed by architect Geoffrey Summerhayes for Mr Bond, with construction starting in 1978 and completed prior to the 1983 America’s Cup sailing event.
