International consulting group ERM has acquired West Perth-based mining consultancy CSA Global for an undisclosed amount, after the local firm put itself on the market.
"We commenced, led and we’re proactive in the process to find and evaluate a company that would be a good fit for CSA," managing director Jeff Elliott told Business News.
"We approached ERM and in them we found a company, a culture, an executive team and strategy that matched what we were looking for."
Advisers on the deal included HopgoodGanim Lawyers for legal, Hall Chadwick WA and BDO for financial/tax, and Platform Communications for PR.
Founded in 1984, CSA Global has grown to employ over 100 staff across Australia, North America, Europe, Asia and Africa.
It provides technical and management consulting services, and independent corporate advice, predominately to mining and exploration companies.
According to BNiQ data, it has 26 consultants in its two offices in Western Australia, making it the 22nd largest consulting firm.
Mr Elliott was the firm's largest shareholder, along with other members of the board, management and senior members of staff.
All executive directors will be staying with the business and will become partners in ERM. The two non-executive directors, Peter Rossdeutscher and Paul Harley, will not continue with the business.
The existing CSA Global brand will be retained for the present time.
London-based ERM says it has over 5,000 employees.
ERM's Australia division has been operating since 1994 and has seven offices, including one in Perth.
In a statement, Mr Elliott said his company was excited to join the ERM Group.
“CSA Global is passionate about geoscience, exploration and mining practices, as is ERM about sustainability in mining,” he said.
“It is a very good strategic fit, both culturally and operationally; our mining services are complementary across geographies, clientele and capabilities.
“We believe it creates a world-leading position as an adviser to the mining industry.”
ERM chief executive Keryn James said the acquisition of CSA created a powerful capability and service offering that would materially add value to its clients’ business.
