Digital healthcare agency Curve Tomorrow has expanded into Perth through the acquisition of Progressive Medical.
Last May, medical solutions startup Progressive Medical partnered with St John of God Subiaco Hospital to run a pilot for its new virtual reality x-ray software, called MedVR.
MedVR takes the x-rays from radiologists and, with algorithms, turns it into a 3D representation in virtual reality, which allows the doctor to do more comprehensive pre-surgical planning.
Progressive Medical was founded in 2015 by civil engineer Arthur Ong and lawyer Denning Chong.
Curve director Sanji Kanagalingam said he was excited by the prospect of widening Curve’s reach with the acquisition.
“The strategic acquisition enables Curve to continue to bring health and medicine to the digital age, transforming the way Australia, and now Western Australia approaches healthcare,” he said.
“A Perth office also allows an ideal launchpad into Asia through established business channels, promising an exciting future for Curve and the health technology space in Western Australia.”
Curve has several partnerships with Melbourne based health institutes, such as Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI), National Research Institute for Ageing (NARI), Expression Australia(VicDeaf) and the Center for Eye Research.
The ongoing partnership with NARI lead to the creation of Averto, an app that enables someone from a culturally or linguistically diverse background, with dementia and is living at home, to communicate with care workers effectively without the need for cost-prohibitive translators.
