Cape wins Metronet contract

CFC Group subsidiary Cape has secured a power infrastructure contract with Western Power as part of the state government’s Metronet project.

The work is associated with the Public Transport Authority’s new Maida Vale substation for the Forrestfield Airport Link project.

Under the contract, Cape will install about 3.5 kilometres of three-phase underground cable, communications ducts and associated pits to create a new transmission line from the existing substation at Forrestfield.

The work is expected to be completed in about five months.

Cape chief executive Peter Rowles said the company was pleased to have secured the contract.

“Cape has extensive experience supporting rail infrastructure projects, in particular interfacing between the PTA and the asset owner to undertake utilities installation, service realignment and service relocation,” he said.

“The award of such a challenging and technical project reaffirms our position as a market leader in the installation of underground utilities here in Western Australia.

“As one of the few local contractors with expertise working for the asset owners across in water, power, communications and gas, we are well positioned to support the array of Western Australian Infrastructure Projects in development at the moment.”
