Monadelphous' joint venture business, Zenviron, is part of a consortium that has been contracted to deliver a wind farm in regional Victoria, with Zenviron expected to perform $70 million of work on the project.
Under the contract, Zenviron will deliver engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of balance-of-point works at the Lal Lal wind farm, while Vestas will supply and install the wind turbines.
The farm comprises two sections, nine kilometres apart, located on farmland across Victoria’s Moorabool Shire, south-east of Ballarat.
The Yendon section will connect to the existing Ballarat area terminal distribution line, while the Elaine section will connect directly to the adjacent Elaine terminal station.
The project is owned by a partnership comprising InfraRed Capital Partners, Macquarie Capital and Northleaf Capital.
Early engineering works have been completed and construction is underway, with plans for the project to be fully operational by the second half of 2019.
The farm includes 60 turbines and has a capacity of 228 megawatts.
Monadelphous has a 55 per cent stake in Zenviron, according to its 2017 annual report.
Zenviron general manager Carl Keating said it was pleasing to secure the contract.
“Lal Lal Wind Farm is our third contract award for 2018, demonstrating Zenviron’s leadership in the renewable market delivering balance-of-plant works,” he said.
“We’re excited to again be working with Vestas in delivering a sustainable energy future for Australia.”
Shares in Monadelphous were off 0.25 per cent at $14.06 each at 240pm AEDT.
