Pindan wins $28m hospital contract

Construction company Pindan has won a $27.7 million contract to build a new hospital in Manjimup.

Forward works for the new $39.3 million Warren Health Service were completed by Perkins Builders in June, which included demolition of old buildings to pave way for the new facility, which is scheduled to open in mid-2018.

Under the contract, Pindan will build a new state-of-the-art emergency department, and inpatient ward, surgical services, an operating theatre, medical imaging, pathology and outpatient, primary health care and other support services.

The existing Warren District Hospital will remain operational during construction, which is already under way.

“As the member for Warren-Blackwood, I’m pleased to see this new health facility come to fruition and for the people of Manjimup to be provided with a modern, well-equipped health facility that suit present and future needs,” Regional Development Minister Terry Redman said.

The new facility was designed by architects Silver Thomas Hanley. 

It follows news last month that Pindan had won a contract to build the new $70.7 million marine control tower in Port Hedland, after being shortlisted for the job against Doric, Jaxon and McConnell Dowell in November last year.
