Pact wins $11m job on Byford Secondary College

Local company PACT Construction has won an $11.2 million contract for work on Byford Secondary College.

The scope of work on stage three of the college involves construction of a two-storey teaching block, a covered area, and associated site preparation.

The contract also covers external works including parking areas, hard and soft landscaping, refurbishment, alterations and retrofitting of cabinetwork and services to the existing resource centre.

Pact will also fit out additional sub-soil drainage to an existing grass oval at the college.

The college has an overall budget of $43 million, with the third stage due for completion in 2019.

The second stage of the college is being carried out by Cooper & Oxley under a $37 million contract, and covers extensions to the technology and enterprise block, a new arts learning area, an education support learning community centre, a sports hall and general learning blocks.

The second stage is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

PS Structures was awarded a $28.8 million contract for the first phase of construction works at the school in 2012.

The school initially accommodated up to 375 high school students when it opened its doors at the start of the 2014 school year.

It will have the capacity to accommodate up to 900 students when stage two is completed at the end of 2016.
