The Taste of the Valley Festival held every April in the Swan Valley brings together all of the best bits of the region’s festival held throughout the year. It’s not too big, not too short and often features some very unique events.
Combining food, wine, arts, music and local produce the festival is held annually over the four weekends in April.
More than 25 venues have banded to offer a wide range of festival activities including special menus, wine tastings, musical entertainment, tours and art exhibitions.
Of those involved is the newly renovated Carilley Estate – its new cellar door will be pouring tastings of the recently released Merlot, Rose and Shiraz.
Newcomers Edgecombe Brothers have not only created a special Autumn tasting plate but they have been persuaded into showcasing their famous Edgecombe’s Muscat ice-cream served with a glass of chilled Muscat.
Swan Valley favourites Elmar’s in the Valley, the Feral Brewing Company, and the Duckstein Brewery are all going in on the act with special Taste of the Valley menus being prepared.
And Valley heavyweights Houghton’s will bring the fruits of the ocean together with the fruits of the land with what is being called the Land and Sea platter at the Jacaranda Café.
Plenty of the newly badged Houghton’s Classic will be available as will a special premium ‘Wine Flight’ with four premium wines from the newly
renovated Cellar Door.
And keeping it in the family, Lamont’s will be pouring glasses of Methode Champenoise and Shiraz Viognier as they serve seafood Tapas, local Artisan cheeses and locally grown olives.
And those who want to do a bit of celebrity oyster shucker spotting can head to Lancaster to Sip and Shuck at the Shed.
The bar at Lancaster’s will host oyster doyen Jerry Fraser every Sunday.
Who would have guessed it but Midland Brick celebrates its 60th year in the Swan Valley this year.
And to commemorate the occasion for a company whose products are used in nearly two out of three homes built since the 1960s, the Middle Swan Retail Centre is offering everyone who mentions “Taste of the Valley” a free gift. No word on whether it’s a brick.
