HealthEngine to expand board, raise capital

Health directory and booking service HealthEngine has announced plans to add Telstra executive Mark Buckman to the board and raise capital imminently.

Telstra and Seven West Media last year announced a $10.4 million investment in the Perth-based and operated business, which provides Australians with access to find and book health appointments online.

Members of the board include Pat O’Sullivan, HealthEngine chairman and non-executive director of Carsales.com.au, Nick Chan, Group COO of Seven West Media and Matthew Koertge, managing director of Telstra Ventures Australia.

Mr Buckman, who is Telstra's media and marketing group managing director, would bring experience to the board, Mr O'Sullivan said.

“Mark brings a great deal of value to the business as we focus on growing market share,” he said.

HealthEngine currently reaches out to more than 3,000 practitioners at over 1,000 health practices across Australia and plans to grow by more than double in the next 12 months.

HealthEngine chief executive and medical director Marcus Tan hinted at capital raising plans.

“To accelerate growth and reach more Australians, HealthEngine will be raising further capital in the near future,” he said.

The HealthEngine website is visited by more than 600,000 Australians every month to find and book over 500,000 available appointments from health practitioners across the country.

In April, HealthEngine announced that Yahoo!7 would be the exclusive Australian sales representative for advertising across the HealthEngine website.
