When you make a chardonnay as good as Leeuwin Estate does, the only problem you have is deciding how good it is. With this in mind, questions are being asked with regard to where the 2003 Art Series Chardonnay fits in Leeuwin’s spectrum.
In recent years, the 1995, 1997, 1999, and 2001 releases have been considered extraordinary and many have elevated the 2002 to be the best ever.
With the 2003 set to be reviewed soon, everyone is wondering whether the trend will continue, particularly Paul Atwood, who has just taken over the reins from Bob Cartwright, arguably the region’s most successful winemaker of recent times.

Gourmet Subiaco hotspot Panache has always been good at serving up specialist WA produce, but now it comes with a side of jazz.
The café has cultivated a popular Sunday jazz recital, the last being on February 5.
But the initiative has been such a success it seems likely to become a regular feature.
But as one season starts, another ends so Panache has decided to see summer out safely with an End of Summer Soiree on March 2.
The event will include a degustation style ordering of courses, local food and wines will be matched together to herald the beginning of autumn.
