Perth-based employment services firm Programmed has taken heed of the shift towards online recruitment and invested $5 million into a fledgling digital business.
The listed company has this morning announced its investing in emerging online business OneShift, which will give it a 27.5 per cent stake in the company.
Sydney-based OneShift specialises in placing job-seekers in short term roles and launched just over a year ago.
It has since attracted more than 165,000 job applications and more than 15,000 registered customers.
Programmed said OneShift’s technology had a high degree of social connectivity and intuitive video presentation which made it an increasingly popular model for recruiters.
OneShift charges customers on a fee-per-candidate basis, which Programmed managing director Chris Sutherland said was a more effective model.
“The business of staff recruitment is undergoing rapid structural change,” Mr Sutherland said.
“The traditional placement fee paid to a recruitment firm for searching and finding a worker is rapidly being replaced by customers using online search and database systems to find and match candidates for specific jobs.”
Programmed is Western Australia's 8th largest employment services firm with 105 employees. The company achieved a 9 per cent increase in annual revenue in the last financial year to $1.5 billion. However before tax profit was 5 per cent lower at $42.1 million.
