Global architecture firm Woods Bagot has unveiled its design for Perth Airport’s new $515 million international and domestic terminals.
The first stage of expansion, which kicked off in July last year, involves the construction of a new domestic terminal adjacent to the existing international terminal.
The new domestic terminal is scheduled to open in early 2013.
The second stage of the expansion involves the expansion and upgrade of the international terminal.
Part of the expansion includes a domestic pier at the international terminal, adding substantial flight capacity needed to cater for a rapid growth in passenger traffic.
“Additional international capacity also forms part of the project’s second stage and comprises two gates capable of handling the double-deck Airbus A380 currently operated by Qantas, emirates and Singapore Airlines,”
Construction on the second stage and the domestic pier will commence in April, and will be completed by 2014.
