It was a passionate love of chocolate that prompted Candis Frasier to start her own confectionery company and product range, Impulse Chocolates.
But the decision-making process was anything but impulsive, with Ms Frasier working on a plan for the business for about 12 months.
Impulse Chocolates was launched at the WA Wine and Food Festival last weekend.
Ms Frasier said she was partly inspired by her father’s business.
“My parents’ business was definitely an inspiration, but I also had to think about what hadn’t been done yet in the market,” she said. “I love chocolate, everyone loves chocolate.”
And what Ms Frasier came up with was a novel adaptation of the Tupperware party concept, where she has replaced plastic containers and products with anything and everything chocolate.
“Someone will host a party or invite friends to their house and I come to them,” she said. “It is a great excuse for a social gathering and everyone gets to sample chocolates from the Impulse range.
“I also do demonstrations with moulds and different types of chocolates so people know how to do it at home. They can also purchase any of the products.”
Ms Frasier said she had so many ideas and couldn’t wait to make them happen. Although she will source products from overseas, including South Africa, Singapore and the UK, Ms Frasier will also make her own items.
“Creating and manufacturing my own products will be a challenge but I have the knowledge,” she said.
“I have been doing a lot of cooking and trying different ingredients and I will keep doing that. The products will be exclusive to the chocolate parties and maybe Internet sales.”
Ms Frasier said she had done a lot of research about the party plan concept and how the Impulse Chocolates business plan would work.
