What stands Change Corporation ahead of its competitors, according to the company’s managing director Rob Evans, is providing clients with a combined consulting and IT solutions service, but then going one step further and implementing the technology that goes with it.
This is the combination Mr Evans believes has helped Change Corporation secure a place in this year’s Rising Stars.
“The difference is, we do both (consult and implement) very well,” Mr Evans said.
“We have some of the best folks from the biggest companies in WA.”
Mr Evans said one of Change Corporation’s biggest advantages was the ‘dotcom’ collapse and the industry changes that resulted.
“The changes left the sector disillusioned with where they had ended up, but Change Corporation was well positioned before this happened,” he said.
“To be doing something different was and is the key and Change Corporation saw the need for a new business model, which bridged the gap between business, technology and consumer behaviour. This was something the industry didn’t achieve before the late 90s.”
Key services which have also played a part in Change Corporation’s success include customer relationship management, real time business intelligence, advice planning and the company’s biggest focus, content management.
“We transform businesses through management change, new business models and processes and the application of leading edge information technology,” Mr Evans said. “We are a highly innovative team, staffed with professionals from blue chips, strategic consulting and systems integration firms.
“Our customers don’t engage Change Corporation to retain the status quo; they want change and improvement and we thrive on implementing change.”
Mr Evans said Change Corporation helped companies complete “the picture” by understanding the market, its past and the future.
“Our key competencies are in business strategy and planning, enterprise architecture, process and change management; and in integration technologies such as web services, and application development,” he said.
“The raw ingredients for any business success including Change Corporation’s are passion, high energy, not being afraid of embracing growth and change, believing in it, having a vision and being able to articulate it.”
Although Mr Evans believes barriers for Change Corporation are few, getting distracted away from your core business and forgetting what your core business is, is always something business has to be wary and conscious of.
“Some challenges are having to push into accounts where there are existing accounts and making sure you are as good as and even better than the people you are replacing,” he said.
Although Change Corporation admitted that companies including Ernst and Young and Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu overlapped them as service providers, Mr Evans denied they were a barrier, saying “they overlap in skill but not style”.
“The key from here is the execution of our services, continuing to serve clients and attract ‘cream of the crop’ staff,” he said.
“Do this and we will continue to grow, a simple formula.
“We recruit widely, including in the US and Europe. Our employees are a combination of IT, science and business people.
“Change Corporation’s growth has been manageable and what we’re used to and expect. Steady growth with about a 40 per cent increase year on year.
“We picked a good time to do what we’re doing.”
