WA employment showed a marked improvement in October, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics figures.
Employment and Training Minister Graham Kierath said the figures were the biggest monthly jump in employment since March 1993.
“An additional 11,800 people found work in October, boosting employment to a record 920,600,” Mr Kierath said.
He said this was impressive considering that with 10 per cent of the nation’s population, WA held 25 per cent of new jobs created in October.
“It was pleasing to see a drop in the unemployment rate from 7.1 per cent in September to 6.8 per cent in October, placing WA second only to New South Wales,” he said.
