THREE years after buying into the established West Perth business, Faces Dances Cards & Gifts, husband and wife team Dean and Paulette Savage have embarked on an expansion drive.
The company has just opened its second store in Milligan Street, Perth, and hopes to open further stores.
The business had been operating for three years in its Hay Street, West Perth, location before the Savages bought it.
It is the exclusive stockist for Crabtree & Evelyn in the West Perth area, and sells novelties, toys, baby wear, photo frames, gift-boxed plants and flowers.
Mr Savage said the company relied substantially on word-of-mouth recommendations from customers for much of its marketing, which meant Faces Dances Cards & Gifts could offer the best service possible. That and its product range, he told WA Business News.
“We have arguably the most diverse range of cards in WA, from the conservative to the contemporary, the funny and the funky,” Mr Savage said.
“It is still early days yet but we are aiming at a niche market for people who are too busy to shop on weekends.
“We like to offer a service for people to shop conveniently in their lunchbreaks.”
The company is currently carrying out a marketing program to attract new clientele. Some of the methods employed include VIP cards, 20 per cent off opening sales and mail-outs.
Mr Savage said he and his wife hoped to open further stores – providing the current turnover was maintained.
