AN extra $60,000 has been allocated to tourism marketing funds to help promote the State’s Winter Breaks.
The additional funding comes from the Federal Government’s See Australia program.
The WA Tourism Commission has already launched a $350,000 press and radio Winter Breaks campaign.
Some 278 local operators are offering Winter Breaks special rates throughout WA’s eight regions as part of the campaign.
Tourism Minister Clive Brown said the extra $60,000 would add a television component to the campaign to “encourage Western Australians to holiday at home over the coming months”.
Mr Brown said the cooperation between See Australia and the State tourism authorities was a positive joint effort to boost the tourism industry that has suffered through recent global impacts such as the conflict in Iraq and the SARS crisis.
