Sector Briefing: The Future of Energy
What does Western Australia's energy future look like?
With major investments planned for renewables and hydrogen projects, the energy sector's vital role in Western Australia is set to become even more prominent. Whilst coal will continue to be a key energy source this decade and gas will play a critical role in the transition to net zero by 2050, it is clear that the energy mix for the State is evolving rapidly. A significant expansion of the state’s energy transmission networks is needed to facilitate this transition and integrate these elements.
This Sector Briefing will explore these issues and more. Minister Reece Whitby will deliver the keynote address – his first major speech since adding Energy to his portfolios of Environment and Climate Action. That will be followed by a panel discussion providing specialist insights into the sector.
