What does Western Australia's energy future look?
The energy sector plays a vital role in Western Australia and will become increasingly important. It offers enormous potential, with major investments planned for renewables and hydrogen projects. Yet coal will continue to be a key energy source this decade and gas will play a critical role in the transition to net zero by 2050. A big expansion of the state’s energy transmission networks will be needed to stitch together all these elements.
This Sector Briefing will explore these issues and more. Minister Reece Whitby will deliver the keynote address – his first major speech since adding Energy to his portfolios of Environment and Climate Change. That will be followed by a panel discussion providing specialist insights into the sector.
