Developing a career as a professional Company Director involves variety of roles
and positions undertaken along the way. For Erica Smyth, it was a journey which
led to the position of Chairman at Toro Energy.
Now a full time professional non exective company director, Erica's experiences
over the years have allowed her to take on roles in a variety of sectors, hold several
directorships and chair positions, and become one of the most recognised people in
the WA business community.

Join us for our last Leaders' Edge Lunch in Kalgoorlie for 2013 to hear about Erica's
journey to the Board, her experiences in the mining community both in executive roles
and as a Directorand her advocacy work. Erica will also discuss the role of the Board in
decision making for Toro Energy one of WA's newest uranium producers and provide
comment on the future of Uranium mining industry in WA.

Erica has over 30 years experience as a geologist and later as a corporate affairs general manager in the mineral and petroleum industries.

Erica is currently the Chair of Toro Energy Ltd, Scitech, ScreenWest and the Diabetes Research Foundation of WA. She is also a director of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) and the co-operative research Centre for Sustainable Resource Processing.

Erica has a BSc from UWA and a MSc from McGill University, Canada. In 2008 she was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of Western Australia.
