David Jones is the executive chair of VGI Partners, a global fund manager, and has spent over 20 years investing in businesses.
Mr Jones began his career at McKinsey & Company, and was general manager of Butterfields Cheese Factories which is part of the King Island Dairies Group. He spent 17 years in the private equity sector as a managing director of CHAMP Private Equity (2002-2011); executive director and country head of UBS Capital (1999-2002); and a division director of Macquarie Direct Investment (1994-1999).
He is also chair of the National Museum of Australia and Kudos Energy, and a non-executive director of EMR Capital, Global Sources and EC English.
Mr Jones has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (University of Melbourne, First Class Honours) and a Masters of Business Administration (Harvard Business School).
