The West Perth-based developer will progress the Claremont Oval apartment development that Iris Residential abandoned.
Norup is poised to revive the $200 million Claremont apartment project that Iris Residential walked away from, with the West Perth developer advertising the product.
Norup, spearheaded by John Norup, formerly of Norup + Wilson, made the call to take over the 3 Shenton Road project after the site was listed last year.
Business News revealed in June last year that it was unlikely that Iris Residential would proceed with the project, when the site’s owner Iris Terraces Claremont was placed into administration.
At the time, Metrics Credit Partners, which issued Iris a $17 million loan to buy the 7,418 square metre site, repossessed the site.
Metrics is still the owner of the property and has engaged Norup to develop the site.
Approval for a 137-apartment development is still valid on the property, which is the last remaining lot at Claremont Oval.
Hassell is the architect on the project, which is set to feature 18 one bedroom, 83 two bedroom and 36 three-bedroom dwellings.
A recent advertisement posted online described the project as “cutting-edge, thoughtfully created to foster a sense of community and well-being with expansive shared spaces and premium facilities”.
“Each apartment features high-end finishes, including Miele appliances and extensive custom cabinetry, the superior quality buyers expect,” it read.
“Residents will enjoy direct access to the adjoining Claremont Oval—an exceptional open space ideal for recreation and exercise, right at your doorstep.
“The building is pet-friendly and incorporates environmentally sustainable design principles, ensuring low maintenance and energy efficiency—ultimately delivering reduced ongoing strata costs.”
Business News understands that it will be the first major project since John Norup and Dave Wilson parted ways.
The duo developed several apartment projects together, including the Beach Shack in Scarborough, The Precinct in Mount Pleasant and The Crest in Burswood.
Most recently, Norup + Wilson completed luxury retirement and aged care living project Granton Applecross.
