Yagan Square to make its debut

After nearly two years of construction works the city’s newest $73.5 million hospitality precinct will open to the general public tomorrow morning.

Set within the arms of Horseshoe Bridge spanning just over one hectare Yagan Square, which has been built by Perth-based contractor Doric, is the flagship space for the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority’s Perth City Link Project.

Tomorrow’s opening comes several weeks after the precinct’s original target of late 2017, and has been designed to incorporate Aboriginal culture with narratives and stories of the Whadjuk people.

16 of the 22 food, beverage and retail tenancies will open their doors tomorrow including Fish Boss, Hiss & Smoke, Lena Lu Donuts, The Honeycake, Sue Lewis Chocolatier and Maalinup Aboriginal arts, gift and food .

The digital tower will share stories of Perth and WA through light art, video, projections, screening and interactive content and its 14 columns represent the 14 Noongar language groups.

Across the long weekend a range of cultural performances, live music and children’s activities will take place.
