Worley picked for Jansz-Io work

Worley will undertake engineering and construction management work at Chevron’s Jansz-Io compression project, after announcing a contract win today.

Chevron made a final investment decision on Jansz-Io compression in July, a $US4 billion ($6 billion) development to supply the Gorgon facility.

That came about 27 months after Aker Solutions was first asked to under take front-end engineering and design (FEED) for the project, which was to be the first use of subsea compression technology outside Norway.

It will be a five-year project to unlock lower pressure reserves from the Jansz-Io field.

Worley’s contract includes engineering, design and construction management services for the project’s power transmission and communication equipment. 

The Sydney-based contractor had previously undertaken work on FEED of the project, although this work will be headed out of Worley’s Perth office.

“The award of this contract further consolidates our strategically important global relationship with Chevron,” Worley chief executive Chris Ashton said.

Worley also undertakes brownfield engineering work at Gorgon and Chevron-operated Wheatstone.

Chevron owns 47.3 per cent of Gorgon, while its partners are ExxonMobil (25 per cent), Shell (25 per cent), Osaka Gas (1.25 per cent), Tokyo Gas (1 per cent) and JERA (0.417 per cent).
